An oak tree blown over in Florida has revealed a human skull which may date back to the 19th century. Researchers are searching for the rest of the remains.

Curtin said her best guess is the person was buried there sometime between the 1800s and 1900s and that the tree grew over the grave. She said the tree appears to be 40 to 50 years old.

Curtin said old deeds indicate the area once was a cow pasture that was referred to as the Gonzalez Cow Pen.

“We are at a loss right now,” she said. “We don’t know why someone would have been buried here.”
