Bones from the skeleton were uncovered by builders working on enhancement projects in the Smithfield area of the city. They notified archaeologists, who arrived to preserve the remains which are thought to date from between 1650 and 1700.
A spokesman for Dublin City Council said that the body would most likely be excavated, as a pipe needs to be laid in the area.
